BOY SCOUT SUMMER CAMP AT BUNN - 2012

 

Camp Bunn is a 600 acre camp owned outright by the Abraham Lincoln Council.  The property was obtained in 1969 and the first summer camp was held in 1971.  The camp includes beautiful Lake Freesen, an 80 acre lake and offers Project COPE, a full array of aquatic activities, nature, Scout Skills, Shooting Sports, and a climbing and rappelling tower.

2012 Leader's Guide (Weeks 1-4)

Equipment Request Form and all other forms must be turned in at least two weeks prior to your arrival date.

 

Merit Badge Registration Form (Weeks 1-4)

Instructions:

 Enter each scout and your troop number

Mark an "X" in each class they want to take (only one x per start time)

For online version - Save this file as "Week X Troop XXXX Bunn 2012 Merit Badge Registration"

For paper version - Print this sheet, follow first two directions and send to the council office at least 2 weeks prior to your arrival date.

PERSONAL WATERCRAFT

To participate in our Personal Watercraft (PWC) program a scout must:

 ● Be 14 years of age by the first day of his week at camp.

● Be able to pass a BSA "Swimmer" rating test.

● Have a signed parent release form.

●Have a boater's safety certification valid in the State of Illinois.

 

It is suggested that a scout:

● Has reached at least 1st Class Rank.

● Is well on their way in achieving Eagle-required Merit badges.

 

Class size is limited to 5 scouts per time slot at 9 am, 11 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.  Preregistration required.  Interested scouts will be kept on a waiting list once classes are full.

Participation will cost $30 to cover fuel and maintenance.

SAILING

Learn to sail or sharpen your skills on our fleet of sunfish.  Top notch instruction is provided. 

Each Friday, a regatta is held.  The top 3 each week are invited back after camp to take part in The Skipper's Cub - a chance for a share of college scholarship money.  At least $1,000 is available each year.

PROJECT COPE/CLIMBING

Learn leadership skills and problem solving through Project COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) on our all new high course. 

Minimum age 13.

Climbing and rappelling are thrilling events on our tower.

 

FINE ARTS

Make and edit movies in cinematography or earn Public Speaking, Theatre or Art merit badges in this unique camp program.


GEOCACHING

Learn what this new sport is all about while using GPS units.  Have a chance to earn one of Scouting's newest merit badges.


FIRST YEAR CAMPERS

This program is designed for new Boy Scouts.  Those taking part visit every program area, complete many of the Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and 1st Class Requirements, and have time to work on at least one merit badge.
