The Tomb of Mr. Lincoln is located in Oak Ridge Cemetery on the northwest perimeter of Springfield, Illinois. It is well marked by road signs from all approaches. The Pilgrimage ceremonies will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. in front of the Tomb. All participants must be in place no later than 11:55 a.m. Units should bring their American, State, and unit flags. Carrying belts are essential. Because of the length of the parade, possibility of wind, and weight of the flag, small Scouts should not be assigned the task of carrying flags without someone to help. Bearers of American flags will gather at the base of the Tomb prior to the beginning of ceremonies. They will march en masse at the front of the parade. Just prior to the reviewing stand at 6th and Jefferson, they will form an avenue of flags. As the Scout units pass through the avenue of flags they should render the scout salute, The American flag bearers may rejoin their units as they pass.

Registration

Leaders are urged to pre-register. Patches, streamers, and other pre-ordered items will be pre-packaged and ready for pick up at the site where the unit is camping or at the Tomb on Sunday before the parade begins. All units should be in their assembling area by 11:30 a.m. as this will make unit location easier in case of lost Scouts or other emergency situations.

Trading Post

Lincoln Pilgrimage commemorative items will be available for purchase both in advance and Pilgrimage weekend at both New Salem and Jim Edgar Panther Creek Friday evening and all day Saturday. Commemorative Items may also be purchased at the Tomb on Pilgrimage Sunday. There will be a Trading Post tent set up just north of the Monument Avenue entrance. Items for sale will include patches, T-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, hat pins, and other memorabilia. There will also be a Trading Post at the Old State Capitol Plaza, at the end of the parade.

A Full Weekend of Scouting

The Lincoln Pilgrimage weekend is not only a time to honor Abraham Lincoln, it's a time for camping, hiking, sightseeing, and learning about Abraham Lincoln. Camping is available at New Salem State Park and Camp Illinek Boy Scout Camp, and the Jim Edgar Panther Creek Fish and Wildlife Area. See Camping. 

Take the challenge of a 20 mile hike as you walk in the steps of Abraham Lincoln. Details at Lincoln Trail. Or learn about Abraham Lincoln as you visit some of the historic sites around  Springfield. Spend a day in the 1830s. You will enjoy the games of the the period, then relive the challenges of life during that time on the Illinois prairie. A day in the past will offer an experience to remember for scouts (both boys and girls) from 7 to 18. Work and play along side pioneers of the early days on the Illinois Prairie. See demonstrations like blacksmithing, candle making, cooking, and many others. Learn to throw a tomahawk, shoot arrows at 3D targets, join in on tug of war, run a three legged race, help your patrol through an obstacle course. Then end the day with folk music and square dancing.
